This month on of my favorite artist/bloggers, James Gurney, has posted an "Art by Committee" challenge to come up with artwork inspired by the following quote:
“But when the dots did not vanish even after he scrubbed his fists across his eyes three times, he shouted hoarsely”
Here's my attempt that I thought would take an hour or two. 5 hours later....
that is cool, the atmosphere at the poker table, the amount of frames before you reveal it it's all very pro, and what a good spin on the subject. It'll probably fit right into your cartoon as a funny side gag in a dream, or something. Good stuff

Mark, this is brilliant! It works perfectly with or without the sci-fi quotation. Thanks for the laugh!
Thanks Paula! I wondered if it actually made sense... I checked out your blog as well-- excellent cartooning!
Nicely done! Very appealing style.
Excellent staging on the dogs -- their dial and the cat wagering is the perfect button on the gag.
Thanks Daroo!
haha, this is great!
Oh man that's genius! Works really well - I can almost hear the thud of the two kittens as they hit the baize! haha
I didn't know there was a word for that green felt stuff on the top of the table. Thanks Lee.
